Family & Children's Medicaid
Medicaid provides payment for basic medical care to families based on need, income, and resources.
North Carolina Health Choice for Children
NCHC is a relatively new free or low-cost health insurance program for children through age 18 who are at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. Children must be uninsured and must be categorically ineligible for Medicaid, Medicare, or other federal government sponsored health insurance to be eligible for NCHC.
Food Stamp Program
This program is designed to raise nutritional levels in low-income households by issuing food stamp allotments to supplement the household's money available for food. Many of the families who receive food stamps have family members who have jobs, but their income is not sufficient to provide for their nutritional needs. Over 2 million food assistance dollars for Stanly County recipients are spent in local grocery stores. Food assistance is 100% federally funded.

A disability can make getting ready to work difficult, with lots of decisions and lots of hurdles to overcome. If you qualify, services can include counseling, evaluation, assistive technology, education, training, physical and mental restoration, and other support services.
