SHARE Network Access Point to Open

Kannapolis, North Carolina - - Employment assistance is just one-stop away! The Centralina Workforce Development Board is proud to announce the opening of a new SHARE Network Access Point in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Jean Wooten, Statewide Coordinator for SHARE Network North Carolina will be on hand Tuesday, February 13, 2007 to officially kick off the opening with a presentation at the regular meeting of the Centralina Workforce Development Board being held at the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce (3003 Dale Earnhardt Blvd. in Kannapolis) at 4:30 PM. Access Points opening across the state are the result of an exciting partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor, the Division of Employment & Training, the Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives and the State of North Carolina. The Centralina Workforce Development Board is one of only nine boards in North Carolina piloting this initiative.

SHARE Network Access Points are faith-based and community based organizations where job seekers or persons seeking to improve their employment status can go in their own neighborhoods or communities to get job assistance. Trained individuals will assess their needs and connect them to the nearest JobLink Career Center (www.cabarrusjoblink.com) via computers and direct referrals for services such as online job searching and preparing a resume.

These Access Points will provide outreach to targeted communities for “nontraditional” customers lacking computer literacy as well as those who would not be comfortable or likely to do it on their own. They will also increase the number of locations where there is access to JobLink Career Center services.

The Access Point opening in Kannapolis will be operated by Prosperity Unlimited, Inc. located at 1660 Garnet Street.
